“From research to health care: Your pharmacist is at your service” is the theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) celebrates this day every 25th September to emphasize the importance of the pharmaceutical sector.
From research and development to medicinal product suppliers, the pharma industry contributes enormously to improve everyday healthcare. “The role of pharmacists has evolved from that of a provider of medicines to that of a provider of care; Pharmacists are the backbone of health care in many different settings” said FIP President Dr Carmen Peña. With the shared vision of better health, the pharmaceutical sector together with scientifics and other health professionals work at the patience service. “Taking care of patients starts with recognizing the health issues of populations and developing medicines, policies and education to tackle them” Dr Peña added.
The purpose of World Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner.
